Project Description and Aim
The Guided Reading professional development is being offered to set-up uniform levels of expectations across the district. This method of teaching will allow all teachers to respond to student’s needs within their classroom. It will create a common language for assessments and instruction throughout the district. The sessions will focus on developing key aspects of Guided Reading instruction and establishing non-negotiables during a small group instruction.
Target Audience

Instructional Need
Even though most of the literature presented can be found in the book titled ‘K-8 Continuum of Literacy Learning’, important aspects which need to be aligned with district’s expectations are not addressed in this book. Modeling and debriefing are required at several steps to cater to the personal needs of each classroom. This training also aligns the Guided Reading expectations with the district’s performance appraisal system.
